Scam Artists DON'T GO THERE!!! They quoted me over a $1,000 of repairs that didn't even need done!!!! Said they help finance, I'm sure you would!!! They should be shut down. They need looked in to by the Better Bussiness Bureau that I will be filling sending them a detalied paper that they printed off to me saying what all needed repaired, and didn't. Also, where took my vehicle in & got the promblem fixed under $50.00!!!! This caused me a lot of stress, depression, & worries where I didn't feel safe driving my car bcuz of thier lies. I feel something should be done legally about this too. Who knows who else they might try to do this too.

They got my vehicle in immediately and were very prompt in contacting me with the diagnostics. However, that was where things began to unravel.

In June '16 I had the brakes in my '08 MINI Cooper repaired at P&L' s. In January '17 the brake warning light said I had only 1100 miles left on the front brakes but 36000 remaining on the rear. Obviously something was wrong with either the front brakes or, hopefully, the sensor. I called P&L' s and was told to drop the car off the following morning. By 11 a.m. I got a text that the car was fixed. The sensor wire had frayed and broken and had been replaced. I picked the car up later that day and was told no charge for the repair! Sure, maybe something in the original brake job was not quite right and that caused the wiring problem. But there's no way I would have ever known that. They could have easily charged me for parts and labor. But Pete and Libby's is a class act. I'll definitely be bringing my Cooper back for future repairs and routine maintenance.

We talked on the phone about 4:30 to give me the diagnostics report. My estimate was significantly higher than I believed it would be. I think out of shock, I gave them permission to do the work at that time. I also was at their mercy, having to tow my vehicle there to begin with. I was told they wouldn't begin the work until the morning. Later that evening, I began to think about the estimate. I also discussed it with some friends and family who have experience with mechanic work. Everyone felt the estimate was much higher than it should be. I called that evening and left a message asking them to call me back before they started any work on my vehicle to discuss the estimate. I specifically said "DO NOT DO ANY WORK UNTIL WE TALK". The only thing I heard back from them was that my vehicle was done and ready for pickup, through a text message. I got no explanation, other than they didn't know how to contact me. However, I was receiving text messages throughout the process, and left messages with my vehicle make and phone number twice.

Stop by on10/24/2016 to see about having state inspection done was told to much going on was told to come back next day at 8am . got there this morning at 8 waiting on state inspection at 11:30car still not even pulled inside , got paper work and keys. Then he says can you dfop it off in the morning , no I will get it done somewhere that wants to do it. Sad thing is I have spent thousands of $$$ there in the last 3yrs.

When I got the bill and the break down of prices, I was pretty stunned. Their markup for parts was unbelievable. I was charged $276 for a new battery, and could have gotten the same battery at Autozone, with longer warranty, for $139. I also think my current battery was still under warranty, because I replaced it myself in 2013 with a 5 year warranty, which was never mentioned to me.

I understand good mechanic work comes at a price, and I do feel I received quality work. I just believe I was taken advantage of with this bill. I hope this was just an isolated incident, but I don't think I will be returning and probably would not recommend them to anyone else.

My husband and I received a quote from Pete and Libby’s a few weeks ago. The quote was $2400 to repair our valve cover, intake hoses, gaskets, and spark plugs on our VW Touareg. We felt it was a little high so we went for a 2nd opinion. I hesitated to take it to the local VW garage because I figured they would be significantly higher. I was wrong. They were able to do the same repair for over $1,000 cheaper and the work was performed by a certified VW repairman. I called Pete and Libby’s to ask for clarification in the quote difference. I faxed over our papers from the repairs we had at the VW garage and spoke with Danny at Pete and Libby’s. He said the price difference was because the VW garage only charged us for 4 hours of labor (which is how long it took) and that Pete and Libby’s charge for labor based on what Mitchell’s Auto Repair quotes for hours. Danny said “if you get a good technician that is fast then it can take less time.” I’m all about saving money and time and using a good technician. I asked if it would have taken them less time if they would have charged less and he said “we charge by what the book says. If it pays 8 hours and only takes 1 then we charge for 8 hours…within reason”. I was blown away by this. If I’m quoted 8 hours and it only takes 4…I only want to pay for 4! The rest of the $1,000 difference is because Pete and Libby’s were charging me for “premium spark plugs” and a gasket that they said was not listed on the slip from VW. I don’t need premium spark plugs…I feel comfortable with whatever the VW garage chose. I asked in my letter for my diagnostic fee back due to the variance in price but no offer was received. The other difference between shops is the warranty. VW garage warrants 12 months/12,000 miles. I believe Danny said they warrant 18 months/18,000 miles. I’m all about supporting local shops and the little man but not at over $1000 price difference! I truly felt like they were trying to take advantage of me. Long story short…go for a 2nd opinion or better yet save yourself the diagnostic charge and just go somewhere else.
